Editio Barenreiter Praha presents a newly revised edition of Sonata No.3 for Cello and Piano by Bohuslav Martinu - one of the most prolific and versatile Czech composers of the first half of 20th century. Owing to the fact that, until recently, commonly used first printed edition of the Sonata comprises a whole series of fundamental, in many cases, arbitrary alterations of the original manuscript, it was not considered in this modern urtext edition. The editor Ales Brezina. whose alterations of the score are marked by square brackets. puts this edition consistently in accord with Martinu's manuscript, which in no way fails to give a very accurate picture of all performance nuances of this popular and widely performed composition.
