He is especially known because of his opera's but he composed some masses and a number of solo concerto's as well. Not many composers have made concerto's for Bassoon. In fact, in the classical repertoire there are only 4 concerto's well-known. Vivaldi, Mozart, Saint-Saens and von Weber. For Clarinet, Carl Maria von Weber wrote two concerto's and a concertino. For Bassoon he composed the Andante e Rondo Ungarese and in 1811 the Concerto in F major.
