The unique combination of 2 pianos, flute, percussion and strings perfectly captures the intended sentiment. Written for and dedicated to my niece Jessica on the occasion of her graduation from 5th grade, A New Hope was used as the background music for a slideshow featuring hundreds of photos of all the 5th graders from the Class of 2010 at New Hope Elementary School. Hillsborough, NC. The piece begins rather solemnly with a hint of nostalgia reflecting on the times the students shared together. The ever-uplifting 'Jessica's Theme' is first introduced in the 2nd piano part at m. 16. The theme goes through several transformations until the 'New Hope Theme' is introduced in m. 71.
