Brass Trio composed by Salvador Brotons. For trumpet, horn, trombone. Chamber Music. Complete set. Duration 18 minutes. Published by Brotons & Mercadal. BK.100-047-162. ISBN 979-0801226-10-5. Chamber Music. Written by petition of the Sedalia Trio. Solistes del Gran Teatre del Liceu. during the months of May and June of 2004, Brass Trio is a composition for trumpet, French horn and trombone in Suite form. The six movements of the piece are grouped in pairs making three groups. Intrada-Corale, Divertimento-Marcia and Burlesca-Inno. There are therefore only two interruptions between the movements in the piece. The Intrada is presented, as its title indicates, with the instruments entering separately. The trombone is alone on stage when the composition begins, dialoguing with the off-stage trumpet, which gradually comes closer to the stage. Once on stage, the two instruments play a fast and dynamic duo, which in its culminating point, is also interrupted by the French horn off-stage. Once all the instruments are on stage, they play together in an intimate ambience of the Corale. The Divertimento is a sort of witty Scherzo with several changes of meter and irregular rhythms which lead to a Marcia. March. of a certain ironic character. In the Burlesca, the trombone confronts the other two instruments in a satiric discussion with some fun choreographic effects. To finish the piece, thematic material of the Intrada and the Corale is used in the Inno. Hymn. The three players, standing up, project their powerful sound towards the audience in a grandiose and brilliant ending.
