A friend of Adolphe Sax, his works for the saxophone are among the first for this instrument. In addition tothree fantasies for alto saxophone and piano, Savari wrote a series of ensembles which go from duo to octet. His works were published by Sax between 1861 and 1862. He died in 1870. This quartet is written in four movements. The first is in a Sonata-Allegro form The second is in the style ofa rustic Mountain folk music.
