Towards the end, however, is a calm section in complete contrast presenting an extract from Mongolian folk music, a world that is different in every way. This inventive work full of surprises was one of the winning works at the Unesco Rostrum in 1991, Hakola having already received a win in 1987 for his first string quartet. Capriole has reaped success at a number of international new music events.
